The Peace of God Rosary

Peace is the ultimate gift that God wishes for all people.

Several Gospel passages include the words and wishes of Jesus that His followers will have peace in their lives.

This Peace of Jesus Rosary contains Gospel verses of Jesus’ words of peace.

Let these words sink into your mind and heart as you pray the decades of this peace rosary.

And, pray for peace – especially among those who are at war, or at odds with others.

The Five Decades

When you pray the five decades of this Peace of Jesus Rosary Reflection, use these five sayings of Jesus from the specific Gospel.

The Gospel passages are listed in parentheses after the decade.

For example, Luke 2:14 is the verse where the angels wish peace on earth.

Decade 1: The Angels Announce Peace on Earth (At the birth of Jesus, a choir of angels appeared to the shepherds. They announced the Good News and offer peace to people of good will. Luke 2:14)

Decade 2: Jesus invites those who are troubled to come to Him. (In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus offers to give rest to those who are weary and burdened. Matthew 11:28-30)

Decade 3: Jesus gives His peace to His disciples before the Last Supper. (In Jesus’ farewell address, he offers the peace which only he could give. (John 14:27)

Decade 4: Jesus is stronger than any obstacle. (Jesus warned his disciples that they would have trouble in the world. He has overcome all things and gives peace to those He loves. John 16:33)

Decade 5: Jesus gives peace after the Resurrection. (Jesus appeared to his disciples in the Upper Room after his death. He breathed on them and said, “Peace be with you.” (John: 20:21)

What to Remember

This Gospel story shows that God wants His family – you and me – to have peace with God, ourselves and each other.

As a follower of Jesus, you have the same privilege: to live in the peace of Jesus and be at peace with all challenges of life.

When you take in the peace of Jesus and let that peace fill you, you feel more secure in God’s love and protection of you.

For instance, here are a few intentions to pray for:

For a greater peace in your body, mind, emotions and spirit.

That there will be greater peace in troubled areas where gun violence is rampant and innocent people are killed at random.

For all who are at war with one another, that they will be reconciled and act with love and care toward each other.

That peace will reign in politics, education, government, and society, that greater respect and reason will replace hate and factions.

Feel free to pray the rosary using the Gospel when you want more peace or when you feel called to pray for others who need the peace of Jesus.
